Experience the very best of Australia’s east coast and outback on this unforgettable journey from Brisbane to Rockhampton and to the legendary heart of Queensland at Longreach. Travelling out of Brisbane will make our way to Hervey Bay for a couple of nights and with a visit to K’gari (formerly Fraser Island) the world’s largest sand island, before continuing north to the tropical warmth of the Capricorn Coast and Rockhampton. No trip to Rockhampton would be complete without a visit to the magical Great Keppel Island, we enjoy a leisurely cruise with onboard lunch and time to explore the island. From there we head west in to the timeless charm of the Australian Outback and in to Longreach for four nights … we visit the iconic destinations such as the QANTAS museum, Stockman’s Hall of Fame and the Waltzing Matilda Centre. We do a sunset cruise on the Thomson River followed by a traditional stockman’s dinner and show. Leaving the heart of the Outback we head south driving through the ever-changing landscapes as we travel through the iconic towns of Bourke and Cobar, each rich in history, character and country hospitality. Discovering fascinating stories of our pioneering past we visit the ‘Back of Bourke’ centre in Bourke and discover what’s really out the back of Bourke. We’ll also visit the Cobar museum and be in awe of the feats of it’s mining past and present. Continuing south we reach the rich and fertile soils of the Riverina and it’s largest town, Griffith. There is so much to do and see here we’ll spend a full day exploring all vibrant town has to offer. This tour includes airfares from Melbourne to Brisbane to meet the coach.
