Yes, on our tours page on our website there is a Tour Calendar booklet that contains a summary of all of the tours for a year. The tours page can be found at https://www.southernstartours.com.au/over-60s-seniors-tours. Click on the link under the heading TOUR CALENDAR to download the tour calendar PDF document. We also offer a full colour brochure which we are more than happy to post out to you if you would prefer … simply email us on info@southernstartours.com.au or ring us on (03) 9598 1354 and we will post it to you.

Yes, nearly all of our tours commence in Melbourne. Some of our tours do start in Melbourne finishing interstate with a return flight included to Melbourne Airport where you would be met by a coach for a return to your original collection point. There are some tours where you would be taken to Melbourne Airport to fly interstate to commence the tour, these tours include return flights. Tours with flight components are clearly marked on the detailed itinerary.

Yes, we specialise in small group tours for travellers aged over 60, and regularly organise tours for groups like Probus, RSL clubs and retirement villages. We can tailor a tour to suit your groups needs and time requirements.

We specialise in small group tours for travellers aged over 60, our tours are escorted by a driver and hostess who are there to assist our passengers where possible and within statutory restrictions, you must be an independent traveller to join the tour. We often have guests who have ‘walkers’ and these are easily placed under the coach (again you must be an independent traveller), unfortunately we are unable to cater for wheelchairs.

We specialise in small group tours for travellers aged over 60, and our tours are escorted by a driver and hostess to assist our passengers. We have had travellers aged in their 90s on some of our tours. While there is no set age limit, there is a requirement that you are an independent traveller.

An independent traveller is someone who is medically fit and physically capable of travelling without requiring personal assistance from our staff. This includes being able to independently board and disembark the coach, negotiate the coach steps, manage their own luggage (where applicable) and participate in the tour’s scheduled activities at a reasonable pace. Travellers should be able to attend to their own personal care and mobility needs throughout the tour. If you require physical assistance or personal care during your travels, you will need to travel with a companion or carer who can provide the support you need, as our staff are unable to provide personal care or lifting assistance.

Yes, you can. It is common that we have many guests travelling solo. The additional cost for a solo traveller is purely the cost applied by the accommodation for the right to have a room to yourself (the twin share cost is because the room cost is split between both parties in the room) there is no additional cost added to the tours for a solo traveller. We also offer solo travellers a ‘row’ of seats to themselves, that is, you are not sitting next to someone you don’t know on the coach*.

Yes, all tours have a driver and hostess to assist our passengers. As we specialise in tours for the over 60s, the safety and well-being of our passengers is our priority – and we make every effort to make each tour as enjoyable as possible for everyone*.

Southern Star Tours provides an inclusive “door to door” pick up service from your place of residence to meet the coach and return home for passengers residing in the Melbourne metropolitan area (within a 25km radius of the coach departure point). For transfers outside the metro area, please contact the office to discuss arrangements.

Southern Star Tours is a specialist in small group tours for travellers over 60 years of age. Our tours costs are based on 20 people travelling in our 36 seat luxury coaches. Numbers may on occasion vary by one or two passengers, however our mantra is to offer small group touring.

If we do not receive about 20 passenger bookings for a tour, the tour may be cancelled and a full refund of your deposit will be provided. Sometimes a tour may proceed with slightly less than 20 passengers.

We make every effort to make our tour itineraries as accurate as possible. However, sometimes changes to a tour are necessary due to venue restrictions, changed opening hours of venues, venue closures and other things beyond our control like weather, road closures or other accidents. We will endeavour to make the change as interesting and enjoyable as possible.

Yes, Southern Star Tours has been operating for many years and all vehicles meet the stringent requirements of being an accredited operator with Transport Safety Victoria.

All of our tours have the same general terms & conditions which can be found on the second page of each booking form. The amount of the booking deposit for a tour is included in the Terms & Conditions on the second page of each booking form. A booking deposit of $200 is required for most tours to confirm a tour booking. A small number of our tours require a $500 deposit due to the requirements of either the airlines, or accommodation properties selected for that particular tour. The terms and conditions clearly sate what deposit is required for what tour.

Deposits are non-refundable, unless Southern Star Tours elects not to run the tour for any particular reason, then deposits are fully refundable, or can be transferred to another tour. Southern Star Tours highly recommends travellers take out travel insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances that may arise.

You can download and complete the booking form for the tour that you are interested in and email it to info@southernstartours.com.au or mail it to Southern Star Tours, PO Box 347, Sandringham Victoria 3191. Please then provide a deposit for the tour booking.
Bookings are not confirmed until the deposit has been received by Southern Star Tours at which time a confirmation email or letter will be sent to you.

We would recommend and encourage you to send your booking form in once you have decided to go on the tour. The deposit due date is a guideline for Southern Star Tours to advise accommodation of final rooms required. Tours often sell out months before deposits are ‘due’ and therefore no further bookings would be taken for that tour after it is sold out, even if that is before the ‘due’ date.

Deposit payment can be made by cash, or cheque made payable to ‘Southern Star Tours’ or by direct debit to Southern Star Tours bank account, BSB: 633-000, Account number: 161 422 530. If you paying by direct deposit please use your name as the bank reference. Payment can also be made by credit card – please contact the office on (03) 9598 1354. Cash or cheques can be mailed to Southern Star Tours, PO Box 347, Sandringham Victoria 3191.
NOTE: When paying by direct deposit, some banks will query the name of our company. Southern Star Tours is the trading name of our company Southern Star Coaches Pty Ltd.

Yes, we will send you a confirmation of your tour booking when we have received your booking deposit together with your deposit.
Bookings are not confirmed until the deposit has been received by Southern Star Tours at which time a confirmation email or letter will be sent to you.
