Broken Hill and Mungo National Park – 7 day tour

Broken Hill and Mungo National Park – 7 day tour

$0.00

FRIDAY 11 – THURSDAY 17 JULY 2025

Broken Hill is the famous and fascinating mining town in remote Western New South Wales. Beyond the Darling River in remote western New South Wales is the iconic and legendary mining town of Broken Hill. Dominating this town is the “Line of Lode” – the seven kilometre strip of what was the biggest deposit of silver, lead and zinc in the world. Unlike modern mining towns, where the accommodation is built well away from the mine activities, Broken Hill’s population, in the pick and shovel days, built their houses as close as they could to their work. No trip to Broken Hill would be complete without a visit to the Pro Hart Gallery, and the famous Palace Hotel where scenes from Priscilla Queen of the Desert were filmed.

Often spoken about but seen by few, this is your chance to visit Mungo National Park … the park is part of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Wilandra Lakes Region. Mungo National Park is where the remains of Mungo Man, the oldest human remains were found in Australia. Whilst in this part of the world we will also spend time visiting some fabulous destinations in Mildura, including Orange World, as well as the cultural precinct of Mildura, including the 1891 built Rio Vista home and the Mildura Arts Centre and Historical Museum. Our time in Mildura would not be complete without a paddlesteamer trip down the mighty Murray.
